2014 Option Transfer/Open Enrollment

Option Transfer Period for Contract Colleges

Option Transfer Period/Open Enrollment closes at 4:30 p.m. (EST) on December 24. The PS404 form and the FSA paper enrollment form must be delivered to Benefit Services and postmarked on or before December 31, 2013.

*Please note that you need to complete your elections in Workday AND fill out a PS404 form for changes to your health care.*

The Option Transfer Period is the time of the year when New York State announces the health insurance plan changes and rates for the upcoming year. You will be receiving information directly from the New York State Department of Civil Service.

As a reminder, during an Option Transfer:

  • You must fill out a PS404 Form and change your health benefits in Workday
    • You can change from the Empire Plan to an HMO or change from one HMO to another
    • You can change from an HMO to the Empire Plan
    • To change from family coverage to individual coverage
    • To voluntarily cancel your health insurance coverage
  • You can enroll in a flexible spending account in Workday

Flexible Spending Accounts

If you would like to participate, you must enroll in a flexible spending account each year by using Workday. Please visit the flexible spending account page for information about how FSAs work.

Please Note: A new federal law goes into effect in 2013 limiting the amount that you can put into the medical care reimbursement account to $2,500 per employee in a year. Dependent care reimbursement accounts will retain the maximum cap of $5,000 under the new law.
