About Developing Facilitation Skills

Leading in complex organizations requires leaders to not only be skilled communicators, but also skilled facilitators who recognize the power of creating an environment that brings out the best in others with an emphasis on inclusivity and collaboration. Cornell's facilitation training is designed to interactively teach participants effective facilitation skills for chairing meetings; leading department, organization, and university project teams; and facilitating workshops and learning programs. The goal is to increase the effectiveness of teams, meetings, workshops, and programs by increasing the quality of facilitation. Cornell's facilitation training is a cohort-based program that prepares participants to design and facilitate effective remote, hybrid, and face-to-face meetings and teams. In this program you will:

  • Develop skills to facilitate meetings or large groups
  • Build awareness of your own style and how you leverage it to cultivate an inclusive learning environment
  • Create conditions that deepen connection with others to increase participation, involvement, and growth
  • Explore how to effectively engage diverse groups with openness, curiosity, and compassion
